SuperDive & Aquap Revolutionize Bold New Approach to Underwater Certification at MerMagic Con 2024!

Successful mermaid certification recipients hold up the Aquap banner

Members of the emerging cooperative Aquap are reshaping the landscape of underwater recreation.

New York City, New York Mar 8, 2024 (Issuewire.com) – Led by the founders of innovative school SuperDive, Nicole Zelek and Rob Wallin, the Aquap cooperative made its live debut during the festivities at MerMagic Con 2024.

Aquap is coined from the fusion of “aquatics” and “cooperative”. It is a visionary platform offering unparalleled support for aquatic professionals and increased quality control related to dive certifications and training. The distinguishing characteristic of Aquap is its administration of the certification process while entrusting dive professionals and their schools with ownership of their training processes. Though this is a departure from traditional dive certification, this crucial separation is required to meet international standards.

MerMagic Con is the largest convention for mermaiding enthusiasts around the world. SuperDive provided mermaiding training to the colorfully eclectic attendees during the weekend-long event. During multiple rigorous pool sessions, students learned invaluable skills including dolphin-kick technique in a mermaid tail, no-mask underwater poise, and breath-hold safety.

Upon completion of training, each participant went from student to certification candidate. This meant demonstrating skill mastery in front of an impartial evaluator without further coaching from their instructor. The prize? Aquap certification – a golden entry ticket into the world of mermaiding; an equivalent to earning one’s driver’s license.

SuperDive and Aquap would like to express their immense gratitude to Mermagic Con for providing a platform to support these endeavors. Additionally, MerMagic Con’s generous support for Underwater 4 All, Inc. helps the non-profit organization continue to make underwater activities and education safer and more accessible.
