The implementation of the standards of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is one of the tasks of Kazakhstan’s anti-corruption policy.
The delegation headed by the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askhat Zhumagali, is taking part in the OECD Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum, as well as a meeting of Senior Public Integrity Officials (SPIO).
The Global Forum is the leading annual public anti-corruption event. Over 90 countries around the world attended the Forum.
As the part of the events, Askhat Zhumagali presented the activities of the Agency and the measures taken to prevent corruption.
Askhat Zhumagali spoke about the ongoing work on the implementation of the Concept of Anti-Corruption Policy, prevention of corruption, including the formation of an anti-corruption culture and integrity, risk analysis, business protection, asset recovery and the introduction of legislative initiatives. Also, a meeting of the Kazakh delegation with representatives of the OECD secretariat was held, where issues on further cooperation in strengthening principles and mechanisms of integrity, evaluating the effectiveness of the implementation of OECD standards were discussed.
Currently, Kazakhstan has successfully passed four rounds of monitoring of the OECD Istanbul Action Plan. The evaluation of the fifth round will be conducted between April and October of this year.
It should be noted that our country aims to join the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Officials in International Business Transactions. This will strengthen cooperation on legal assistance, extradition of criminals, return of illegal assets and create a basis for effective interaction with law enforcement agencies of foreign countries.
